Hello, darlings! How are we all doing? It's been a while, hasn't it. Happy every-holiday-since-September-2008, I suppose.
Maybe I should make a habit of updating more often than two or three times a year. I've never been successful at keeping a journal, though. Plus, it's kind of creepy. You guys don't need to know everything that goes on in my life as it happens, right? Right. Almost-bi-annual updates are just fine. Updates aren't particularly numerous, anyway. Let's see:
· I acquired a roommate in the form of my cousin. She's a fancy actress.
Crazy, too, but I love her just the same.
· I saw k-os and
Malajube in concert, and both were sooo fun! I also You Say Party! We Say Die! twice, but only by accident. They sucked the first time, and were much more entertaining the second
time.
· Back in December, some idiot on the 21st (top most) floor of my building somehow got the sprinklers in her apartment going while cooking fries. The alarm went off, everyone evacuated, and
firemen arrived to inspect the building. They found that water had traveled down through the walls all the way down the 14th floor, at the very least. It ruined the floors of many units, and I was without electricity for one night because water had permeated through the breaker.
- Short-term consequences: I missed the season finale of
Heroes ))):, but I finally met some of my neighbours. Some of them were very kind and helpful!
- Long-term consequences: Contractors and construction workers were in my apartment sporadically from January to March, shooing me from my home at early hours of the morning. Anyone who knows me in the least is aware that I'm really not a morning person.
· I passed all my classes in my first semester! I'm really proud, because I came quite close to failing
one of them.
· I got my driver's license, and haven't driven a vehicle since.
· The Habs made the playoffs!
Not only that, but they finished the regular season at the top of the eastern conference. They eliminated the Bruins during the first round in a seven-game series that was more difficult than it should have been. They're currently playing the Flyers, and hopefully they will pwn their way through to the conference final. /pride!
· I wrote my last final for this winter semester yesterday, and was rewarded with Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry's. I went with
Peperino, and we saw
ameru there too! Hooray. Seriously, that store is saintly for holding such an event, and the timing is just perfect. Thank you, Mr. Ben and Mr. Jerry.
While I'm praising things, I would like to publicly congratulate Mother Nature on a very lucrative winter season. Now, I know a lot of people, probably the majority, were royally pissed at the ridiculous amounts of snow that layered Montreal - as well as much of Canada and the northern US, as I hear - because it introduced a number of inconveniences upon their daily lives. Admittedly, I didn't have to drive to work/school or make any trips to the airport, so the weather didn't impose any additional difficulties on my routine. That being said, I'm incredibly proud of our almost 300 cm of snow, the most the city's seen since the 1970s. Now
that's what I call a proper winter! Good job, Powers That Be.
edaoust, I'm sorry if this last paragraph was painful to read. >>And how are your springs going? What does everyone have planned for the summer? I expect legendary and/or embarrassing tales of adventure and hilarity by August, k? k.
Take care, everyone!
